Sesen Beauty is an upcoming beauty brand that aims to infuse ancient Egyptian rituals and skincare ingredients into modern-day beauty. The first of their line, the Egyptian Blue Lotus Glow Oil was recently released for purchase.
Egyptians were no slouches when it came to keeping up with their appearances, especially those who were in positions of royalty or nobility.
Oils, milk baths, kohl, and other rituals were commonplace and helped to keep skin healthy and youthful. Egyptians were renowned for caring for their skin and hair, and even infused their reverence for self into the embalming process.
Cleopatra's ancient secret to soft skin included taking frequent milk baths, which helped to renew and rejuvenate her skin.
Among their beloved ingredients was the Blue Lotus, a beautiful water lily found by the Nile that the Egyptians used in their beauty and wellness rituals. It was also used for medicinal and spiritual purposes.
Blue Lotus extract has many skincare benefits, like brightening, anti-aging, and providing balance to the skin. It also has a significant level of antioxidants.
Sesen Beauty's desire to harness and introduce this flower's potent effects and history to modern beauty resulted in the creation of their Egyptian Blue Lotus Hair & Body Oil, the first of her Egyptian-inspired skincare line.
A dentist by trade, Dr. Mireille Halim desired to use her love of medicine, science, beauty, and wellness to express her love for her Egyptian heritage by creating Sesen Beauty. "Sesen" was the Egyptian word for the water lily or lotus.

Halim grew up watching her older relatives, particularly her grandmother, create and concoct Egyptian remedies and beauty products that blossomed in her a love for her bloodline and instilled the first seeds of her desire to start on her passion.
Every morning, the lotus would open its petals to reveal a golden center, and every evening, the dark blue petals would close, mimicking the natural cycle of the sun and symbolizing the cycle of souls journeying to the afterlife.
They were kind enough to pass on a sample to me, and let me just say that the smell was intoxicatingly pleasant as soon as I squeezed a few drops from the bottle.
The best way I could describe the scent would be flowery and earthy. It is pleasantly fragrant, but not artificial. And BLUE as the early night sky. If all Egyptian skincare is like this, I'm curious to see what else the Middle East has to offer in beauty.
The blue hue comes from the Blue Lotus extract; expertly blended with a host of ancient essential oils revered by Egyptian kings and queens. This multi-use oil is crafted for the pleasurable sensory experience.
It can be used on the skin, hair, cuticles, and even put in your bath. Perfect for people who want efficient and fast beauty products without the clutter.
Sesen Beauty is clean, vegan, and cruelty-free. The Egyptian Blue Lotus Glow Oil is now available for purchase on their Instagram shop.
